Osteoporosis and Rheumatism Screening

Maintaining strong bones and healthy joints is essential for long-term mobility and quality of life. T-lab’s Osteoporosis and Rheumatism Screening is designed to evaluate bone density and detect early signs of osteoporosis, as well as diagnose inflammatory joint diseases like rheumatism. This screening helps in the early identification and management of conditions that could lead to serious bone or joint complications.

Duration: 1 Day
Special Requirements: Fasting for 8-10 hours may be necessary for certain tests.

Profile Includes:

Bone Health Tests:

  • Bone Mineral Density (BMD) Test (DEXA Scan): A key test to measure bone density and assess the risk of osteoporosis or fractures.
  • Calcium, Serum: Essential for bone strength, this test evaluates calcium levels to check for deficiencies or imbalances that may affect bone health.
  • Vitamin D, Serum: Low levels of vitamin D are a significant risk factor for osteoporosis, as it helps in calcium absorption and bone strength.

Inflammatory Markers:

  • Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR): Measures the level of inflammation in the body, often elevated in cases of rheumatic diseases.
  • C-Reactive Protein (CRP): Another key marker for inflammation, particularly useful for identifying rheumatoid arthritis and other joint diseases.

Joint Function and Autoimmune Markers:

  • Rheumatoid Factor (RF): A marker commonly associated with rheumatoid arthritis, helping in the diagnosis of autoimmune conditions affecting the joints.
  • Anti-Cyclic Citrullinated Peptide (Anti-CCP): A specific test for rheumatoid arthritis, detecting antibodies that attack the joints.

Bone Metabolism and General Health:

  • Parathyroid Hormone (PTH): Regulates calcium and phosphorus levels in the body, essential for bone metabolism.
  • Alkaline Phosphatase (ALP), Serum: Elevated levels may indicate bone disease or conditions affecting the liver and bones.
