Iron Deficiency Test
Iron deficiency is one of the most common nutritional deficiencies, leading to fatigue, weakness, and impaired cognitive function. T-lab’s Iron Deficiency Test provides a thorough assessment of iron levels and related markers to help diagnose anemia or other conditions caused by insufficient iron in the body.
Duration: 1 Day
Special Requirements: Fasting for 8-10 hours may be required for accurate results.
Profile Includes:
Iron Status Tests:
- Serum Iron: Measures the amount of iron in the blood, which is crucial for carrying oxygen to cells and supporting overall body function.
- Ferritin, Serum: A key indicator of the body’s iron storage. Low levels suggest iron deficiency, while high levels may indicate an underlying condition.
- Total Iron-Binding Capacity (TIBC): Evaluates the body’s ability to transport iron through the blood, helping diagnose iron deficiency or overload.
- Transferrin Saturation: Determines how much iron is bound to transferrin, a protein that carries iron in the blood. Low transferrin saturation is often a sign of iron deficiency.
Blood Health Markers:
- Complete Blood Count (CBC): Includes hemoglobin and hematocrit levels, essential for detecting anemia, a common result of iron deficiency.
- Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR): Measures inflammation in the body, which can affect iron levels and may be linked to chronic conditions causing anemia.
